Saddle up Cowgirls! Join your fellow Cowgirls for a scenic ride at the Broad River Greenway!! The 1,500 acre natural area offers miles of trails perfect for horseback riding!

Please note: the Greenway trails are closed to horses for 72 hours after rain. Please call 704-434-0040 to determine closures.

For parking, please follow the directions from their website: “For your convenience the Greenway created an “Equestrian Parking” area on College Farm Road. Look for the brown signs as seen above on Highway 150 directing you to the horse access. Come past our gate and continue all the way to the large circular turn around. The idea is to go all the way through the turn around and proceed like you are exiting the way you came in. Park along the side of the road keeping the travel lane clear for incoming traffic. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PARK IN THE TURN AROUND AREA. This makes is nearly impossible for anyone else to get past you making a frustrating day for all involved.” If you have any questions or concerns, call Ranger Jolly at 704-434-0040. Boots or shoes are recommended. Please visit their website for more information and a trail map at https://broadrivergreenway.wpcomstaging.com/.

Greg Eliel - Horsemanship, Leadership,& Life! What's not to love about Greg!! We are so lucky to be able to host such a wonderful horseman at our farm!!

Whether you are an experienced equestrian looking to bring your horse to a more advanced level, or less experienced and looking to feel more confident with your horse day-to-day! Greg's tailored approach and master communication skills will help you work through challenges to reach those goals.

    AM Class 9:00am - Noon

    Horsemanship 1

Excellent for someone new to working with Greg, young horses, or green horses.

Immersion and Refinement Classes will give you and your horse the opportunity to learn together with Greg. You’ll be working toward developing an understanding of how your horse learns, as well as acquiring the tools to build a solid foundation from feel. This is the beginning of a new relationship together.

Phase One: In Immersion the foundation in groundwork will help to build a secure, confident, relaxed, and supple horse. Followed by applying the groundwork to the saddle, the rider will now begin to reap the benefits from the new foundation, helping the horse to move away from the slightest amount of feel. You will learn how to meet the horse’s needs and to speak to the horses in their language, the horse and rider have a much greater potential of reaching goals for any discipline in harmony.

Phase Two: The refinement phase we will start to focus more on the individual discipline and goals of each horse and rider combination

    PM Class 1:30pm-4:30pm

    H1/H2 -

*Host will determine best class for each participant.

Horsemanship Clinic: Connection, Confidence & Fun with Chriss Cardwell

    August 30, 2025
    10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
6009 Pilchuck Tree Farm Road, Snohomish, WA

Ready to strengthen your connection with your horse while boosting your confidence and having a blast? Join us for a 3-hour horsemanship clinic designed for riders of all levels—whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your partnership.

Led by Chriss Cardwell, a talented and experienced horsewoman, this clinic is all about understanding the why behind what we do—with exercises that build from the ground up.

More about Chriss : Chriss has been involved in horses most of her life, she picked up the bug after a girl scout trip to ride horses and developed into a full-time passion. Over the years Chriss has dabbled in many disciplines, including: Hunters, Eventing, Dressage, horse racing, Polo, Cow working and ranch work. While competition has taken a back burner in her adult life, she spends her energy and spare time learning how to help people across disciplines improve their riding by developing feel and understanding of their horses. You will frequently hear her say "I won't teach you how to (jump, dressage, work a cow - you fill in the work!) specifically, the skills you learn with me will make all the interactions with your horse better." Chriss's approach to helping people includes groundwork, how groundwork feeds into work under saddle, problem solving for horses (and humans) who are having trouble, and how to have FUN on and with horses. She has been teaching for close to 25 years, helping beginners through advanced riders with their horses. It doesn't matter what tack you bring, she can help both you and your horse have more fun every day together.

    What to Expect:
Groundwork that builds trust and respect
Ridden work that puts your groundwork into action
A confidence-boosting challenge game to wrap it all up with fun and connection

You’ll walk away with practical tools, new insights, and a stronger bond with your horse.

Pasco, WA: Excel with Horses 3-Day Clinic

Are you looking to develop more confidence, control, and success with your horse? Do you want to work towards a true partnership with your horse, built on respect and trust?

In this clinic Steve will help you attain these goals and become the natural leader that your horse needs you to be.

REGISTER NOW Clinic Host: Cathy Ricard Phone: 509-521-0886 Email: ricardcat@msn.com

Steve is one of the most sought-after instructors in the horse industry. Traveling all over the US and Canada, he has helped thousands of horses and riders develop more willing partnerships. His methods and teaching style are unique and produce instant results. Whether to overcome fears, or gain more control, participants will leave the clinic empowered and more excited about reaching their horsemanship goals.

This clinic is designed to be an overall learning experience that builds on several aspects of communication, confidence, respect, trust, impulsion, and performance. The clinic is open to people of all skill levels and disciplines, beginner to advanced are welcome. We also welcome horses of all ages and breeds.

Some of the things you will learn through the clinic are: Confidence to overcome fears. Tools to keep your horse calm, curious, and respectful. How to develop safe, content, and willing horses. Feel and timing to increase your horse’s “try”. Common mistakes of both the horse and rider. How to think from a horse’s point of view. What to expect from your horse and what to do when your horse does the unexpected. How to accomplish incredible things with your horse. Key exercises to unlock your horse’s potential. Exercises to correct your horse’s bad habits. How to gain overall control of your horse’s five body parts and get your horse supple and responsive. How to make the wrong thing difficult and the right thing easy, a key lesson for solving problems. How to get the most out of each training session with their horse at the clinic and at home! Essentially, we will be teaching you the building blocks for success!

REGISTER NOW :This clinic will be split into two classes so that everyone can have extensive one-on-one time with Steve. Participants from both Levels can watch the opposite Level at no cost.

The Level 1 Class will be primarily focused towards teaching principles of safety, communication, and confidence building for both horse and rider. This is a great class for anyone who is new or still needing foundation exercises, lacking confidence, possibly looking to not canter too much (or wanting to try cantering more), having any major issues with their horse (bucking, rearing, etc.), or themselves. Green horses (less than 6 months of riding) should be in this class. We recommend this class if you have not previously done a clinic with Steve. It will run from 9:00am – 1:30pm.

The Level 2 Class will be primarily focused towards teaching more intermediate to advanced principles. In this class we will assume that you have basic understanding of natural horsemanship groundwork concepts and techniques and are willing to have a ‘go for it’ attitude. This class will involve advancing your groundwork techniques, body control, and riding maneuvers. If your horse has any behavioral issues (bucking, rearing, striking, etc.), this class is not for you. It will run from 2:00pm – 6:30pm.

This clinic builds on concepts that take several days to achieve. For best results the clinic should be attended in its entirety; however, a minimum participation of 2 days is required. If your horse is not rideable or is too you, you can participate only within the groundwork portion. Note that if we have a smaller number of registered rider we may only have one group.

General Information: For stalls/pens and general clinic information please contact the clinic host. Arena Fee – $50 RV Camping – $25/day Dry Camping – $15/day Stalls – $20/night (all stalls MUST be bedded with shavings) Daily haul in fee – $5/horse per day if not stalled

    REGISTER NOW: https://schoolofhorse.com/event/pasco-wa-3-day-clinic-5/

Spectators: Purchase a Spectator Pass in our online tack shop to audit the clinic.

Equipment: For participants under the age of 18, helmets are required (free Spectator Passes are available for parents of a minor participating in the clinic). A snaffle is recommended for Level 1 horsemanship (however, for Level 2, you can bring a leverage bit). These items can be purchased at the clinic, as well as other Steve Rother approved equipment.

Cancellation: If unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE unless you purchased deposit insurance; however, if you let us know ahead of time that you are unable to attend, a credit may be issued that can be used towards a clinic at a later date or the purchase of Steve Rother DVDs.

Come join us for a trail ride at the Cooper Lake Equestrian Trails. This ride is our Annual New Year's Day ride!  Be there ready to ride out at 10am.

Make sure you bring snacks and water for the ride. Bring water jugs and buckets for your horses to drink out of. If you plan on camping out there the night before just know it has water and electric hookups but does not have pens for horses. It is high tie or bring your own pens.

The ride will probably be between 7-10 miles and may take 3-4 hours.

Dress warm, you never know what Texas weather will throw at us!

    Horsemanship 1

For the green horse and rider already comfortable in the snaffle bit along with aged horses needing continued work. This is the first stage of progressing into the bridle with all basic movements introduced. All levels of riders – no matter what discipline – will benefit. The class features strictly dry work – no cattle. All maneuvers stress the vaquero style of riding and are appropriate for horses from first level snaffle to experienced bridle horses. Hackamore horses welcome.

    Horsemanship 2

The next phase in the development of the versatile bridle horse. Horsemanship 2 introduces the rider to working the horse in the hackamore and beyond. Horsemanship 1 is a prerequisite for enrolling in Horsemanship 2 unless otherwise approved by Buck. The class involves working cattle and ranch roping so that all aspects in preparing the bridle horse-in-the-making are addressed.
