Old Time Saturday (OTS) began in the early 1980s to evoke the pre-television tradition when “the country went to town” every Saturday. It's a daylong festival honoring Farmersville’s rural roots and agricultural legacy—especially its fame as the “Onion Capital of North Texas”

  • 8:00 AMAudie Murphy Hero Run 5K kicks off from Chaparral Trail Head, winding through historic downtown. Entry supports Farmersville Centennial Inc.

  • 8:30 AM – Flag-raising ceremony in the downtown square

  • 8–11 AM – Pancake Breakfast at the Farmersville Masonic Lodge #214 on Hwy 78, serving a fundraiser hosted by local lodges

  • 10:00 AMOT Parade, featuring floats, tractors, horses, classic cars, and participants on foot. Often includes the historic tradition of naming an Onion Queen, reviving a pageant tradition from the 1930s

  • All Day (approx. 10–5) – Street vendors, food trucks, live music (including performances at the Bain‑Honaker House by groups such as the E‑Flat Porch Band), arts & crafts booths, and fundraising raffles. Ride midway-style attractions and shop hundreds of vendors along Main Street

  • Car Show – A highlight especially for auto enthusiasts. Held on South Washington Street starting at 8 AM. Advance registration ($25) or onsite ($30). Judging begins around 1 PM, sometimes aligning with the parade route area

  • Onion Festival at the Bain‑Honaker House – Hosted by the Farmersville Historical Society from about 10 AM to 2 PM, celebrating the town’s onion-growing heritage through history exhibits, music, and family fun

  • Music & Beer/Wine Garden – Visit Cedar Hollow Winery’s booth (Beer & Wine Garden open from noon‑5 PM) for refreshments amidst vendor rows and entertainment

  • Wear comfy shoes—expect to walk historic brick streets lined with booths, displays, and food vendors

  • Register in advance if joining as a vendor, for the 5K run, car show, or parade. Early entries often receive event T‑shirts and discounted fees

  • Arrive early for key events like the 5K run, flag-raising, or parade.

  • Bring cash for raffles such as the Square Board raffle—prizes have included a $500 cash prize, a Yeti cooler, a grill, and more—sold at $5 per square at local businesses
