Equine Health & Emergency First Aid
Our most comprehensive, and popular, course! Join us for a one day course covering: what your vet needs to know, conditioning a horse to accept treatment, taking vital signs, dealing with lacerations, punctures, colic, choke, collapse, casting, shock, hoof issues, recognizing pain in the horse and pain source identification, injury prevention and so much more! Join us for a one day advanced equine emergency first aid course and learn what to do in the most extreme situations! Covering everything from lacerations to poison, burns to bites, fractures to sucking chest wounds, this course prepares the student to handle the most serious injuries while waiting for the vet. The Caddo National Grasslands WMA is located in Fannin County about 70 miles northeast of Dallas near Bonham. From Dallas take US 75 north for 35 miles to the SH 121 exit going to Bonham, another 35 miles to Bonham, and then about 15-20 miles northeast of Bonham to the WMA. SH 121 connects to US 82 at Bonham. Stay on US 82 18 miles to Honey Grove.

Cowgirl Jennie Vayo is setting up an opportunity for you to participate in a Night Ride Obstacle Clinic at Legacy Ranch in Lone Oak. This Clinic will be offered by Hunt County Sheriff’s Posse, under the direction of David and Terry Rogers. It is limited to ten (10) riders, so sign-up quickly. If weather is prohibitive, it will be rescheduled. Come on out… new opportunity, new experience!!

Since we are all trying to save some $$s for one reason or another, Maria and Whispering Oaks Farm & Ranch have offered to Host a barn “Watch Party” for The American Performance Horseman. (The Globe Life tickets with any decent view are high, and their refreshments are as well.) This competition will be aired by Fox Sports 1, so check your local listings.
The greats will be in class competitions, including but not limited to, Casey Deary, Cade McCutcheon, Sarah Dawson, Andrea Fappani, Corey Cushing and Jason Vanlandingham!! There are 5 designated Teams of 3 each competing, so this will take a while. In the meantime, so much fun to be had!! Contact Maria or me for details. Bring your favorite chairs and dress as needed for the barn and weather!!
FCSC Annual Tack Swap. We will have indoor vendors on two floors of our clubhouse and outside spaces available. More information to follow. Sign ups should be available at the end of December. Mark your calendars!
The FCSC Annual Tack Swap has been set for Saturday, March 9th. They will be using the same format as last year with both inside and outside spots available to rent. First space is $25 and extra spaces can be added at $15 each. This allows for social distancing and was a big help to the success of last year’s event. Farmersville will be attending a Progressive Series of Liberty Training presented by East Texas Liberty and hosted by Sherri Gerstenkorn. Each Clinic session is $150. Audit is allowed at $50 per person and will give you a birds-eye perspective of the process! If this is a success and more interest is created, Sherri may offer this Series on a Monthly basis in conjunction with East Texas Liberty. Please feel free to contact Sherri!

This is a focused Clinic for “Building Confidence Through Better Horsemanship”! Nathan Wells will work you through some ground time and saddle time. Requirements for this Clinic participation is the ability to walk, trot, and lope your horse. His training will be improvements in horsemanship within each gate. This will help the confidence of beginners as well as experienced rider!! Limited space for six (6) riders. Audit is $20 per person. ABOUT THE VENUE
Franklin County Saddle Club has lighted arenas, onsite trail course, wash rack, indoor stalls, 24 RV campsites as well as dry campsites, bathhouse with showers.
Easy access from I-82, local accommodations shopping, and restaurants nearby.
EVENT DETAILS
We hope you’ll join us at the beautiful Franklin County Saddle Club for a fun weekend!
- Friday afternoon, the show office will be available for early check in.
- Saturday morning we will have an In Hand (IH) – a dismounted event in an arena/field, halter and lead rope preferred. All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age.
- Saturday afternoon we will have a Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome.
- Saturday night, we hope you’ll join us for a fun potluck. The Saddle Club will supply the main dish, please bring a favorite side dish or dessert.
- On Sunday, we will have an Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome.
THE TERRAIN
Excellent dirt footing in all arenas, Onsite trail course is dirt with wood chips some light gravel in areas.
MEALS
Meals are on your own. There are several restaurants nearby and delivery services such as Uber Eats and Door Dash that will deliver to the Saddle Club.
We are also looking on getting food onsite. Competitors will be updated closer to the event. On Saturday, there will be a potluck. We hope you’ll join us.
AWARDS
Beautiful ribbons 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin’ (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer!

The Franklin County Saddle Club is located on road 60 between Argent and Court Street.
From Oregon: Take 395 North to Pasco. Take the Court Street exit, turning left on Court. Proceed a few miles to Road 60. Turn right. Saddle Club will be on the right side. Please use the entrance by the Equine Trail Sports sign.
Traveling East on I82: Take Exit 9, Road 68. Turn right on 68 and proceed to Argent. Turn left at Argent and continue to Road 60. Turn right on Road 60. The Saddle Club will be on the left. Please use the entrance by the Equine Trail Sports sign.
