Come join us at the Ocmulgee Bluffs for a mid-week morning ride on Wednesday, July 31st at 9:00.   Image result for free cute horse clipart

This area is a beautiful place to ride.  Directions are as follows:

From Forsyth take Highway 83 north east towards Monticello.  Will cross the Ocmulgee River, and a few miles down, will go past the Enon Baptist Church on your left.  Will see a big Ocmulgee Bluffs sign on your right where you turn left onto Smith Mill Rd after seeing the sign.  There is a black horse sign with the words Saddle Horse Club written on it on your left as you turn in.  Road is not in the best of shape and narrow, so take it nice and slow.  After 2-3 ? miles, you’ll see the Saddle Horse Campground on your right and on your left, will be the entrance to the Bluffs where you pay and can park.

If you haven’t joined us in a while, please come on out for a good day to ride with some wonderful cowgirls!

Franklin, NC – Cataloochee Valley Trail Ride

Meet at New Ingles Parking lot,  then caravan over to Cataloochee Valley.  Meet at Cataloochee Parking area by 10am . recommend shoes or boots for trails, some are rocky, believe there are water crossings. Vickie is going to show us the trails. Bring water, snacks, and lunch. I do not know length of trails.

Franklin, NC – Towstring – trail ride – short and long ride options
Aug 4 @ 9:30 am – 6:00 pm

Meet at Towstring horse parking area at 9:30 – There are several options to ride long and short rides. Recommend shoes or boots. There are numerous watering holes and crossings. Bring snacks, lunch, and a lot of water. Riders can go up to Steel Bridge/Cabnin Flats and back, or others can go up to Grassy Flats or higher up to Charlie Bunion or wherever they want to stop and return down the mountain.

Kings Mountain, NC Day Ride @ Woods Ferry Recreational Area

Meet us at the Buck’s Grave Road Trailhead at 9:30, riding out by 10:00. No restroom nor water at the trailhead. These trails located in Chester County, SC is surrounded by beautiful wooded floodplain, surrounded by upland pine woods and maturing hardwood forests. Some hills an a few rocky/roots areas. Boots or shoes recommended.

Meet at 8am at the New Ingles in Franklin, we will figure out a meeting area for riders from Maggie Valley. We will travel up into Pisgah National Forest to parking area. Make sure everyone has a GPS tracker, recommend shoes or horse boots. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and lunch.

From Jasper, Texas, take US Highway 96 North approximately 12 miles to the intersection of Recreation Road 255. Go west on 255 approximately 8 miles to the park entrance road. 31° 4′ 13.0001″ N 94° 7′ 28.9999″ W

Franklin, NC – Noland Creek Trail Ride out to primitive campsite 63 @ Noland Creek Horse Trail
Aug 9 @ 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

Meet at Noland Creek parking area if available or the next parking area across the bridge on the left. We will ride out to the picnic area at campsite 64, then cross the creeks to site 63 and back out. Remember to bring lunch and drinks. The trail is about 10-11 miles. If some ladies want to do a loop on Springhose and come out at Tunnel, they can.  Trail in & out is easy; the Springhouse loop is a narrow single-track trail/ No dogs. Must have GSMNP parking decal or daily parking receipt.

Big Creek is up on the NC and Tenn border on the far eastern edge of the GSMNP . We will meet up will cowgirls in your local vicinity and caravan over to parking area and meet around 10am.  make sure you have parking decal or daily parking pass. Bring plenty of snacks, lunch, and water and don’t forget horse treats. No Dogs allowed.

Franklin, NC – Deep Creek Short and long trail options @ Deep Creek,GSMNP

Meet at the Deep Creek parking area at 9:30

Short loop – Deep Creek up to Martins Gap over to Indian Creek Trail and back to parking area approx 10 miles, trail good footing, need shoes or boots some rocky areas, has water crossings/watering holes.

Long Loop – Deep Creek up to Martins Gap around to Thomas Divide and down to Indian Creek Motor Trail to Stone Pile back across and back to the parking area, approx. 18 miles

 

We can adjust the trails and the start time. Make sure you have the GSMNP parking decal, lunch, water, snacks, and horse treats. We recommend horse shoes or boots.

Stephenville chapter is doing an overnighter at the NRS Event Center and bunkhouse.  Ride the grasslands Saturday 10/5…shopping at NRS…dinner in Decatur and ride Sunday 10/6. Then head home.
