Back Country Horsemen Of Texas are hosting this annual New Year’s Day Ride. You can come for the weekend or just the day. Bring a potluck dish to go with the black eyed peas for lunch. The only fee is for the park. If you’re staying overnight, make sure you make reservations in advance. Coggins are checked at the park entrance.

CSSHA holds Sunday afternoon practices with cattle twice a month at Lander’s LOTRA indoor arena this winter. Take advantage of practicing with cattle and a CowTrac flag for herdwork and cow horse experience from 1:00-4:00 Sunday afternoons on the Sundays listed below. (Sorry, but no roping.) If you are a member of LOTRA and CSSHA, the practice is free. If you are not a member of the LOTRA arena, it’s only $30 per person for all afternoon! (No practice if it’s zero degrees or lower on that day!) Annual LOTRA arena memberships are available at https://lotra.org.

This is also our monthly meeting. 6pm at the Riverton Country Club. I will announce our chapter awards and there will be raffles and silent auctions. Calling all Cowgirls, We are bringing our horses to the VA hospital for some outside therapy for our favorite group of veterans. If you are interested, please only bring a CALM horse… The horses will be groomed, walked out and loved on, no riding. ALL Cowgirls are encouraged to join us, especially if you are not bringing a horse, we need hands on the ground.. Please wear pink button downs, hats optional…We will park in the back west end parking lot…

Hickory Creek WMA is a beautifully rugged, fun place to ride. The trails are now well marked and clear. You DO need a conservation pass to ride there, unless you already have an OK hunting or fishing license.
Come out and join us at one of our favorite spots to ride. Trails available for all level of riders… Weather should cooperate, so ride out at noon. Please feel free to bring a snack or lunch and your favorite beverage… All are welcome
Come out and join in on the fun at the start of this sorting series for 2024… Text entries available the Friday before the event from 8am-6pm… Series runs from from March thru August. Finals in August. Pays 1st-3rd places. 20$ per run. Pick and draws up to 8 runs. Open and novice classes and youth will be available if enough riders. Prizes at the finals: 1st Open-saddle, 2nd Open-buckle, 3rd Open-breast collar. 1st Novice-buckle, 2nd Novice-buckle, 3rd Novice-breast collar.. All are welcome
Jump on your horse or mule and have some fun while also helping to maintain the trails at Big Mineral. Bring some loppers and a snack. Big Mineral is a pretty rugged ride with some fairly steep hills. Its not rocky though and your steed can go barefoot. Also, theres no fee to ride there.

We’re honoring the life of a great Cowgirl. We’ll be having her favorite trail ride lunch after, bologna sandwiches. I think someone is smoking a bologna. So bring a potluck dish to share.

Saturday sale starts at 9 am with wagons, trailers, antiques, & farm equipment. Consignment mules start an hour after that. If anyone is interested in more, Thursday @ 4pm is a trail competition & Friday is the tack sale

Its roundup time again ladies! Join us for dinner, drinks, merry making, shenanigan planning and discussing all things equine.
Meet up at Marillyn’s house at noon and then we ride at 1pm. We go on a trail ride to find hidden ribbons that you turn in for an Easter basket. Some ribbons may get you an additional prize or an “upgraded” Easter basket!!! Marillyn will have some snacks and beverages (of course, there will be jello shots and peeps shots!!!!!) It is $25 per participant to help cover some of the cost of the Easter basket items. (You get a basket with more than $25 in value.) This is just a fun ride and day, not an extensive trail ride. You basically ride until you find a ribbon or as long as you want. We then go to my neighbor’s house and he feeds us. I will have a “new” place to ride this year. Woohoo! Please RSVP to Marillyn by March 30th so she can have enough baskets prepared. Feel free to bring prospective members, family, or friends! “Rain date” make-up ride will be April 20th.
The dogwoods are blooming at Caddo Grasslands!! #1, its a lovely time to ride at Caddo AND did I mention the dogwoods? #2, If you wait too long to go ride out there, when it gets hot, the horse flies get vicious. So come enjoy the Grasslands now while its beautiful.
