A great clinic that several of us has already participated in and will be going again.  Come join us!

The clinic will cover horse physiology and psychology. Class time learning the physical attributes of the horse relating to equine vision.  Mounted obstacle and sensory training with fire lines, smoke canisters, gunfire and more.

Cost: $100 or $115 if the clinic is relocated to a covered arena due to inclement weather (6hour day with lunch provided) $25 non-refundable deposit due at registration.

The clinic will be at your own pace and open to all skill levels and disciplines. You can walk your horse if you prefer.

Platter Flats on Lake Texoma is a BEAUTIFUL place to ride. The trails are fairly easy through the woods and along the lake. The footing is sandy. Pack a snack to stop midway at Rooster’s Roost with a gorgeous view overlooking the lake, with a picnic table and hitching posts.

You can put 1277 Park Road, Blacksburg, SC in your GPS, but remember you are going to Apple Road once you reach Park Road. 

This easy to moderately difficult 30+ mile loop trails begins in Kings Mountain State Park and circles into Kings Mountain National Military Park, the site of a famous Revolutionary War battle. The surface is primarily flat with some rocky areas and some clay spots. A local saddle club takes care to watch over the trails and ensure solid footing on some of the ridge climbs. Shoes or boots recommended.

Abilene, TX- Abilene Lake Trail Ride @ Abilene State Park

Join our Marvelous Mavericks riding the trails around the lake at Abilene State Park.
Check in at the office to show proof of negative coggins, and pay the $5/person park entrance fee.
Make a U-turn around the office and go back out to the highway. Go Left for 1 mile. Lake entrance is on the right. We park near the swimming area or in the first boat ramp parking lot.
The trail is a 2 hour ride. Bathrooms are close to parking. Yes, there are areas where you can water your horse.

We will be riding at 1099 (Part of Ocmulgee Bluffs) on Sunday, Feb 25 at 2:30.  Directions to 1099 are as follows:

From Monticello, Ga take Hwy 83 south towards Forsyth.  Travel approximately 12 1/2 miles.  At mile marker #2, slow down.  Note:  mile markers are on the left side of the rod.  At the top of the hill, just before mile marker #1, take the gravel road on the right.  There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign.  Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn.  Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer.  Camping is on the left side of the road as well.

From Forsyth, Ga (off I-75), take Hwy 83 North/East. Will reach a four-way stop at the intersection of Hwy 83 & Hwy 87.  Stay on Hwy 83.  Will cross some railroad tracks and the Ocmulgee River.  Once crossed the River, Forest Service Rd 1099 is the first road on the left at the crest of the hill right before a curve.  There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign.  Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn.  Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer.  Camping is on the left side of the road as well.

From Jackson, Ga, take Highway 87/23 South and will come to a 4-way stop.  Turn left on to Highway 83 heading East.  Will cross some railroad tracks and the Ocmulgee River.  Once crossed the River, Forest Service Rd 1099 is the first road on the left at the crest of the hill right before a curve.  There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign.  Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn.  Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer.  Camping is on the left side of the road as well.

Come ride with the best… our official Trail Boss, Linda Deas.  Linda is a very experienced Trail Hand and will guide you to the best trails and activities.  She will be spending the week and all will have a great time.  You can come for the week or just to Day Ride!  She will ride out at 10:30 am each day.  Bring your lunch or food as needed.  To my understanding this is a primitive campground.  You will need your generator for power, if you chose to stay.  Please contact Linda with any questions!!

The Caddo National Grasslands WMA is located in Fannin County about 70 miles northeast of Dallas near Bonham. From Dallas take US 75 north for 35 miles to the SH 121 exit going to Bonham, another 35 miles to Bonham, and then about 15-20 miles northeast of Bonham to the WMA. SH 121 connects to US 82 at Bonham. Stay on US 82 18 miles to Honey Grove.

Caddo is a Federal Park Property.  You can purchase a Lifetime Senior Membership Discount Card at www.Reservations.gov, or several others to pick from!

Greenville, TX – Robert Moreland Clinic and Campout @ Robbie's Place

I have set up a clinic and campout with Robbie at his place for 40SC Members. Clinic will focus on horsemanship and communication with your horse and Robbie will work with each person on where they are with their horse. We will also work a little on trail, obstacle, flag/cow work and setting your horse up for success.

There is a hotel close if you don’t have a LQ trailer.  Limited spots available so contact me ASAP to register. We will also take a run over to Teskeys for a little tack shopping as the ranch is close to Weatherford.  Once we know who all is going we will do a little more planning for meals, etc.

Rendezvous is a state sponsored event put on by Back Country Horsemen of Washington that is open to the public. This is a non-riding event.   • Horsemanship #2 will be held March 15, 2024 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Horsemanship #1 is for the green horse and/or rider that is comfortable in a snaffle bit and needs continued work. There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot.

Horsemanship #2 is for the horse and rider team that is learning to use the hackamore and beyond.  This time slot involves CATTLE and ranch roping.

In vaquero riding we will learn basic movements of the vaquero riding that is appropriate for horses from first level snaffle to experienced bridle horses. Hackamore trained horses are welome!  There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot.

Ranch work clinic will be learning how to work the cows efficiently and effectively. This time slot involves CATTLE.

Come out and show off your teamwork skills that you learned this weekend with your trusty steed!  There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot.
