Back Country Horsemen of North east Georgia is holding the annual Rendenza at Whetstone Horse Camp – please contact Katie Adams for site reservations and accommodations and meal tickets. All day riders are to be present and ready to ride out at 10am from the day parking area.
Meeting for the new Back Country Horseman Southern Highlands will be held in Fanklin this month at the Clarks Chapel Fire Station in the community meeting room. The meeting will start at 6:30 pm and last a couple of hours, so bring your own drinks and snacks, and note pad to take notes on important events to come. Also you can pay your dues at this meeting as well
Another great opportunity to compete and watch some great horses at the Stock Horse of Texas – Aggieland Classic, Clinic, and Derby!! Join us if you can. Make your hotel reservations ASAP, or reserve an RV spot at Brazos County Expo Center. No Pre-paid Tickets required. Final Showbill still pending. Will post as soon as possible.
Gordon County Saddle Club is once again hosting a St Jude’s Ride for Children. Event will run from 9:00 – 3:30. More details to come….Save the date! September 28th!
Meet at New Ingles Parking lot, then caravan over to Cataloochee Valley. Meet at Cataloochee Parking area by 10am . recommend shoes or boots for trails, some are rocky, believe there are water crossings. Vickie is going to show us the trails. Bring water, snacks, and lunch. I do not know length of trails.

RIDE UPDATE: We will be joining the GAHA (Georgia Arabian Horse Association) on Oct 5th for their Fall Ride rather than riding on Sep 28th as originally planned. Ride will be at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers GA on Saturday, Oct 5th meeting at 9:00 in the Steeplechase Field across from the hotel and riding out at 10:00. Alisia Waxman will lead the ride. Cost is $25 for non GAHA members and $20 for GAHA members with lunch provided. There will be an endurance clinic beginning at 1:00 as well. Should be a FUN, FUN day!

Meet at Towstring horse parking area at 9:30 – There are several options to ride long and short rides. Recommend shoes or boots. There are numerous watering holes and crossings. Bring snacks, lunch, and a lot of water. Riders can go up to Steel Bridge/Cabin Flats and back, or others can go up to Grassy Flats or higher up to Charlie Bunion or wherever they want to stop and return down the mountain.

Proceeds of the event will benefit to NETBIO – The Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization (NETBIO) is a group of independent cow/calf producers and agribusiness representatives working together to enhance the beef industry in Northeast Texas. NETBIO works in conjunction with the Texas A&M- Commerce and the AgriLife Office in Sulphur Springs.

Tsali Recreational Arena – Trail Ride Left Loops. Remember you have to pay for daily parking online or in an envelope at the Kiosk. Bring plenty of snacks and water for a full day of fun and riding. Meet at large parking area at boat ramp. You can bring trail dogs to Tsali
Halloween Trail Obstacle Play Day – Ridets and horses are encouraged to dress up in costumes and compete in a costume contest, practice & compete on my mountain trail obstacle course. Teams will have to participate in maneuvering through the obstacles cool, calm & collected.
$10 donation to participate and money goes into our cowgirls fund
Meet at Whetstone parking area at 10:00, we’ll saddle up ride out to Adeline and possibly cross river if super low, if not we’ll make loop and go out through Spring house, climb the ridge and head back to parking area. 5 to 6 hr ride so bring food, lunch, snacks, and a lot of water. Trails are easy to moderate in difficulty.

Hope all can join us at Cedar Ridge Ranch in Senoia on Oct 20th at 2:00 (NOTE: Ride was pushed back to Oct 20th from Oct 5th due to our ride at Conyers Equestrian Park with GAHA on the 5th & Carson James Workshop on Oct 12th-13th). It’s a great place to ride with lots of trails. Cost is $5 and must provide proof of Coggins to enter.

Thundering Hills Ranch & Rescue presents their first annual Spook Fest. Dress up your equine partner and participate in our costume contest. Take a peaceful ride down the trails or thru the hay fields. Then try out our spooky obstacle course. We will have hayrides and games for the kiddos and kid at heart. Cozy up by the bonfire with a cup of hot cocoa or coffee with all the fixins purchased from our cocoa/coffee bar or purchase a make your own s’more at our smores bar with several options to make the ultimate smore. Browse our silent auction items, purchase some homemade goodies, take part in some awesome raffles or just come to see all the pretty horses. All proceeds go to Thundering Hills Ranch & Rescue. No rental horses will be available. We do welcome all furry friends/family members, but they must remain on a leash and be on their best behavior. Last I heard, Brandi was looking for volunteers and items for the Silent Auction. If anybody has anything to donate or goodies to bring, or a specific area you wanted to volunteer at, maybe we could volunteer as a chapter – serving hot cocoa, helping with games, etc. Let’s discuss it at our roundup meeting on Aug 27th and then notify Brandi once we come up with a group plan or individually! We are planning a Halloween Costume Parade Practice in the neighborhood of Whispering Oaks Farm & Ranch!! Our purpose is two-fold… to discuss Standard Parade Requirements, and to have some FUN while exposing all horses to parade activities!! After you turn from Hwy 1529, look for the 40SC Banner and turn right into the large Outdoor Arena entrance. Come early, be ready to ride out, and start our Parade Discussion by 10:00AM sharp. Then, we will ride out on Parade Route at 11:00AM. Please, no delays and lack of preparation. We want to see you in your best Costume and full attire! We are planning to have neighbors judge all entries!! WE WILL HAVE PRIZES!! And probably go afterward into Cooper for late lunch!?

We will be participating, again, in the 2nd Annual Horse EXPO at Longhorn Arena in Greenville, TX. This Expo event will include Horse Products Vendors, Sale Horse Alley, Food Vendors, Demonstrations, New & Used Tack, Stallion Exhibits, and Horse Health. Farmersville will have a booth and represent 40 Something Cowgirls!! We will also attend and participate in EXPO Demonstrations. The 2023 1st Annual EXPO was a huge success for our Chapter!! Our very own 40 Something Cowgirl – Wendy Deini-Pruden – will be hosting and assisting this event. Workshop will be held on November 16th from 10:00 till 4:00.
