This area is a beautiful place to ride. Directions are as follows:
From Forsyth take Highway 83 north east towards Monticello. Will cross the Ocmulgee River, and a few miles down, will go past the Enon Baptist Church on your left. Will see a big Ocmulgee Bluffs sign on your right where you turn left onto Smith Mill Rd after seeing the sign. There is a black horse sign with the words Saddle Horse Club written on it on your left as you turn in. Road is not in the best of shape and narrow, so take it nice and slow. After approximately 3 miles, you’ll see the Saddle Horse Campground on your right and on your left, will be the entrance to the Bluffs where you pay $5 and can park. Any donations to our Chapter will be greatly appreciated.
NOTE: If coming from Monticello on Highway 83 towards Forsyth heading West, you’ll see the Ocmulgee Bluffs Sign on your right and as you are turning on Smith Mill Rd, you see the black horse sign with the words Saddle Horse Club written on it. If you see the Enon Baptist Church on your right, you’ve gone too far. Probably best to turn around there in the parking lot and head back east towards Monticello where you will see the Ocmulgee Bluffs sign on your right and turn left on Smith Mill Rd.

9 Team Sorting Practice dates between September and May. Practice cost is $50 per rider and a One-Time $10 awards fee with an optional $5 jackpot at each practice. Starting November 4th, one run at each practice is used for awards points. Awards & Jackpot Run are both draw partners. The top 6 clean cattle/times for each rider are used to determine award winners in each division.
Our practices are limited in riders! 40 fresh cattle each practice. If you don’t have a partner, we have one for you! Each practice run is :60 regardless of a dirty cow. Our goal is to give you the maximum time on cattle without a lot of waiting around. By taking a spot in a practice you agree to pay for your place even if you have to cancel. This is the only way we can continue to offer practices with small groups and great cattle.
3 Divisions—Open, Amateur, Novice.
Awards to top 2 Riders in each division. Must ride in at 6 practices to win awards. Your top 6 scores from all practices will be used for points. Riders in the series will be ranked into the appropriate Division at the start of the series. We will start the awards series and points tracking on September 28th.
