Back Country Horsemen of North east Georgia is holding the annual Rendenza at Whetstone Horse Camp – please contact Katie Adams for site reservations and accommodations and meal tickets. All day riders are to be present and ready to ride out at 10am from the day parking area.

You will need reservations for Sheep Springs, Camping area
Also, you will need to bring Some kind of bee repellent

We usually do a potluck after our day rides with some crazy cowgirls and some great cooks

Meeting for the new Back Country Horseman Southern Highlands will be held in Fanklin this month at the Clarks Chapel Fire Station in the community meeting room. The meeting will start at 6:30 pm and last a couple of hours, so bring your own drinks and snacks, and note pad to take notes on important events to come. Also you can pay your dues at this meeting as well

Gordon County Saddle Club is once again hosting a St Jude’s Ride for Children.  Event will run from 9:00 – 3:30.  More details to come….Save the date! September 28th!

The YWCA Victims Advocacy Center is hosting their 1st Annual Heroes and Heels event in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month. The event will take place on September 28th at Bunning Hall Freight Station from 6pm-10pm and will feature local heroes.

Join us as at this fun ride to help AN Issa Anderson raise money to be donated at the AHA (American Heart Association Ride). Day ride or overnight camping available, with some electric hook ups. Cost is $40 for the weekend, plus $10 per day. Stalls are available for $10 per day for smaller stalls and $15 per day for larger paddocks. Attendance for just Saturday is $30 per person. Saturday night will include a complimentary dinner, as well as a DJ! Bring some cash for the RAFFFLE! For more information, please reach out to Anissa Anderson at (984)248-3265.

We pack up and head to TBarS on October 3rd!! This is one of our favorite places to camp!  If you haven’t made it a point to go, you really should.  We normally have so many going that we reserve the entire campsite.  However, this year there were only 10 spots available out of the 16 and I believe we have filled those already. So, if you want to join us let us know and we can see if we can add you to our campsite or see if they had someone back out on their reservations.

We usually try to caravan so we will make plans for that the closer we get.

Primitive camp for the weekend or come ride just Saturday. Fourteen miles of back roads around Mount Pleasant. There will be live music on Friday night for those camping, as well as a big bonfire and karaoke on Saturday night.

Bring your ideas to the table for fun things to do with or without our horses. We need to plan our Christmas party, for that will be upon us soon!!

We will also do our raffle for an awesome prize. 1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. If you would like an extra ticket to better your chances with the purchase of your ticket/tickets bring a bag of candy that we will donate to a local cowboy church for their trunk or treat.

There is a planned trail ride!!!!One of our charities we support Cleveland County Hearts and Hooves, will be there to highlight there important work with our awesome participants from North Shelby School, Shelby, NC. We LOVE Leatherwood and all it has to offer, from trail riding, good food and drinks at their restaurant and now they have zip lining. Camping is available, stalls for your horses and paddocks for turnout. Small bathhouse. They also do home rentals if you prefer that! So much fun to be had at Manchester Trail Riders twice a year Event, that raises funds for their care of the trails and campground. The fall event features food, DJ, a band and of course Halloween (trick or treat) for the kiddos, the children are taken around the campground via tractor and trailer. All of us Cowgirls usually dress up for the Saturday trail ride too! Water and power at each site. Minimal stalls available, but plenty of areas to high line or set up portable corrals. Bathhouse on site!
We will have our Boot for donations to our two charities: Cleveland County Hearts and Hooves & Southern Paws Animal Rescue.
Reservations can be made usually about two months prior to the event.

Thundering Hills Ranch & Rescue presents their first annual Spook Fest. Dress up your equine partner and participate in our costume contest. Take a peaceful ride down the trails or thru the hay fields. Then try out our spooky obstacle course. We will have hayrides and games for the kiddos and kid at heart. Cozy up by the bonfire with a cup of hot cocoa or coffee with all the fixins purchased from our cocoa/coffee bar or purchase a make your own s’more at our smores bar with several options to make the ultimate smore. Browse our silent auction items, purchase some homemade goodies, take part in some awesome raffles or just come to see all the pretty horses. All proceeds go to Thundering Hills Ranch & Rescue. No rental horses will be available. We do welcome all furry friends/family members, but they must remain on a leash and be on their best behavior. Last I heard, Brandi was looking for volunteers and items for the Silent Auction.  If anybody has anything to donate or goodies to bring, or a specific area you wanted to volunteer at, maybe we could volunteer as a chapter – serving hot cocoa, helping with games, etc.  Let’s discuss it at our roundup meeting on Aug 27th and then notify Brandi once we come up with a group plan or individually!  This is for such a good cause!  Thanks!    Kathy

Cowhand challenge!(sorting, penning, etc). All proceeds go to Rutledge Cancer Foundation! We will have a chuck wagon lunch available for purchase . This event is a benefit. Cowgirls only will have buckles to the winning team. The open division will have a payout. 4 man teams. Pre registration is encouraged and there will be a $50. Moonlight Ride!! There is a full moon during this ride and we hope to ride our horses on the beautiful sandy trails of H. Cooper Black.
