40 Something Cowgirls is teaming up with Sara Lowe of Sagebrush Training to offer a two-day confidence clinic focusing on ranch and trail obstacles. These clinics are fun, encouraging, and full of laughter. Sagebrush Sara works on building each rider up and strengthening your relationship with your horse. All levels of riders are welcome!

Our chapter is helping with parking on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2nd. We need a minimum of 6 people each day (on horse or on foot). This is a rain or shine commitment. If you commit to helping, please follow through. Parkers need to be ready to go by 9 AM each day. The rodeo gates open at noon and the show starts at 1:30 both days. This will be a small fundraiser for our chapter. Each parker will recieve a ticket for entry to the rodeo and ticket for lunch.
All 40SC members are requested to wear a 40SC shirt. If you don’t have a 40SC shirt, a pink shirt will do.
Inviting our neighboring chapters to help.
Camping is available if folks would prefer to camp for the weekend.

Key Sheep Springs Horse Camp Regulations

  1. Bring only weed-free certified hay. (No local forage available.)
  2. Horses must be kept in stalls provided, and may not be tethered or picketed outside of stalls.
  3. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  4. Prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
  5. Fires are only permitted in designated fire receptacles and must be attended. Fires must be extinguished upon departure.
  6. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times.

Local Competitors  

There will be payouts for all local events.  All competitors must wear jeans, boots, and a long-sleeved shirt. Cow Milking competitors must wear a cowboy hat.  ALL COMPETITORS MUST SUBMIT A SIGNED LIABILITY FORM.  IF UNDER 18, THE FORM NEEDS TO BE FILLED OUT AND SIGNED BY AN ADULT. 

Events:   ​​

​* Wild Cow Milking – Adult teams of 3.  Cow is let out of the chute with a halter and rope on.  Team is given a bottle.  Have to get enough milk into it that a drop will let out into the judges hand. $100 per team. ​

* Mutton Bustin – Kids 4-6 years old and under 50 lbs get on a sheep and hold on for as long as they can! –  $35

Come out and support all the contestants vying for a national title at the super bowl of High School rodeo.  Contestants will be from across the United States, 5 Canadian Provinces, Australia, Mexico, & New Zealand.  The rodeo will showcase rodeo athletes as they compete for national titles as well as scholarship over $375,00.

Along with the rodeo action there will be a trade show and food vendors.

Joel Conner Horsemanship. Phenomenal teacher and student of the horse. Empowers the horse and the horseman.

This year’s clinic will be held Friday through Sunday, August 9-11, 2024.

We will once again have 3 3-hour sessions per class (that’s 9 hours of work per class). The Groundwork class will be from 9am – 12pm each of the 3 days, and the Riding class will be from 1:30pm – 4:30pm each of the 3 days.

Bring your own lunch, plenty of water, and SUNSCREEN! We will likely be working a bit outside, weather permitting.

Each class (Groundwork or Riding) is $450.00 for all three days, or $800.00 total to do both classes.

We require a deposit of $225.00 requested to hold your space PER CLASS, or a $400.00 deposit if you are signing up for both.

There will be a daily fee of $10.00 per horse for stalls OR outdoor pens, and you will be required to provide shavings for your stalls (indoor only) as well as daily cleaning and end-of-clinic stripping of your stall, but as usual I will feed for you 2x/day with your own hay and grain/supplements, if desired. Dry camping will be $20.00 for the weekend (suggested donation) – there is a bathroom on site but no shower, however there IS a 2 bedroom apartment available for rent if a few of you wanted to band together and rent that out (it has a queen and a bunk bed, but Keri said there’s not really a cap on bodies so air mattresses are welcome! https://www.airbnb.com/hosting/listings/editor/48871402/details/custom-link

The Demo Derby is a Moses Lake phenomenon-the cars are sliding, spinning,
rolling, and of course CRASHING!  This event is guaranteed to provide hours of
entertainment for all ages.
– Driver Check-In starts at NOON
– Time Trials 5 – 6:30 PM (Tuesday only)

Before the first horse bucks at 7:30pm you will experience our special Pre-Show including Mutton
Bustin’ for kids. You can watch from our large beer garden if you are 21 and over or have dinner
and spirits in our Loadin’ Chute also 21 and over. Come early and get a FREE Rodeo T-Shirt at the
Blue Gate (opens at 5:30pm). Clowns, bull fighters and cowboys – – – Oh my!

Watch it with us… the 2024 RUN FOR A MILLION !!!  Bring you chair, your cooler, your snacks, your brew… whatever makes you happy and settle back for a fun evening in the “Barn” to watch the big screen telecast of this event!  It will be a blast and no one can tell… what goes on at the barn, stays at the barn!!

Estacada, OR – Attending ‘SURVEY SAYS’ Horseback Survey Game @ Milo McIver State Park

Bring your digital camera or smart phone and find the top surveyed answers to questions to chose from along the trail. Compete as an individual.

Riders out at 9-11 am. Riders will leave in intervals and Ride route is 2 -2 1/2 hours long. Finish by 2pm. Intervals intended to control congestion on the trails.

Riders must return to later than 2pm to turn in their results. Prizes awarded after 2pm.

Bring your lunch; lemonade, water and treats provided.

Shoes for horses are recommended. Children are encouraged to wear helmets and dogs must be on a leash.

Entry Fees: $30 per rider; under 12 years of age $10. cash or check. Day use park parking fee is $5; or purchase an annual permit. *Join OET at this event with the purchase of a single or family membership and recieve one free entry to this event. (Memberships will include 2025; annual memberships are: single $30, family $35).

Prizes Awarded: For individuals with the most points awarded in the Survey, for First, Second, and Third Place. Judges decisions are final. There will also be raffle prizes. Each entrant receives a raffle ticket for this drawing.
