Come join us at the Ocmulgee Bluffs for a much-needed ride on Saturday, Feb 3rd at 11:00. We’ve had so many cancellations and rescheduled rides – that it’s going to be good to get back out on the trails again!
This area is a beautiful place to ride. Directions are as follows:
From Forsyth take Highway 83 north east towards Monticello. Will cross the Ocmulgee River, and a few miles down, will go past the Enon Baptist Church on your left. Will see a big Ocmulgee Bluffs sign on your right where you turn left onto Smith Mill Rd after seeing the sign. There is a black horse sign with the words Saddle Horse Club written on it on your left as you turn in. Road is not in the best of shape and narrow, so take it nice and slow. After 2-3 ? miles, you’ll see the Saddle Horse Campground on your right and on your left, will be the entrance to the Bluffs where you pay and can park.

Come on over to Mingo for a “sweetheart” weekend filled with fun, food, rides & of course love! Karaoke and Dancing on Friday night, “official” ride starting at 10:00 on Saturday morning, and Italian Supper Saturday night with dancing to a DJ. What a great way to spend a weekend with the ones you love – family, spouses, live-ins, friends, and of course your horses! Sounds like a lot of fun!!!!
No reservations, but first come – first serve.
Members: $20 gate fee & $10 hook up fee – Nonmembers: $25 gate fee & $15 hook up fee plus a paddock fee.
Self care day for you + your horses! Please join us at the ranch for massages, facials and magnawave. There are limited spots so let me know what you would like to be reserved for!

Bring a friend, your ideas for events and fundraisers! We will be doing a pot luck (facility is also BYOB) during the meeting. Afterwards there will be axe throwing, archery, corn hole & darts! Please let us know if you are able to make it day of so that we can plan the potluck and let the venue know a head count.
Come join us on Feb 19th for a Monday afternoon ride at Maynard’s Mill at 2:30. It is such a beautiful farm filled with beautiful trails. Cost is $10. Please be aware there are still two bridges out of commission, but many other trails to choose from.
Looking forward to riding on this beautiful 5.6 multi-use trail at Charlie Elliott on Thursday, Feb 22 at 10:00. Trail is a good one – where most riders can ride side by side. If 5.6 miles isn’t quite enough time in the saddle, you are more than welcome to go around again! Plan on joining us and see for yourself what a beautiful place this is to enjoy with our horses.

We will be riding at 1099 (Part of Ocmulgee Bluffs) on Sunday, Feb 25 at 2:30. Directions to 1099 are as follows:
From Monticello, Ga take Hwy 83 south towards Forsyth. Travel approximately 12 1/2 miles. At mile marker #2, slow down. Note: mile markers are on the left side of the rod. At the top of the hill, just before mile marker #1, take the gravel road on the right. There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign. Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn. Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer. Camping is on the left side of the road as well.
From Forsyth, Ga (off I-75), take Hwy 83 North/East. Will reach a four-way stop at the intersection of Hwy 83 & Hwy 87. Stay on Hwy 83. Will cross some railroad tracks and the Ocmulgee River. Once crossed the River, Forest Service Rd 1099 is the first road on the left at the crest of the hill right before a curve. There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign. Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn. Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer. Camping is on the left side of the road as well.
From Jackson, Ga, take Highway 87/23 South and will come to a 4-way stop. Turn left on to Highway 83 heading East. Will cross some railroad tracks and the Ocmulgee River. Once crossed the River, Forest Service Rd 1099 is the first road on the left at the crest of the hill right before a curve. There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign. Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn. Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer. Camping is on the left side of the road as well.

Croft State Park Camp and Ride with the Kings Mountain NC Chapter from Mar 7-10th.
This park located in Spartanburg, SC is widely popular and is known around the region for its equestrian facilities. The park regularly hosts shows in its arena and boasts more than 20 miles of equestrian trails. Mostly flat trails, rocky and roots in some areas.

We will be riding from Gentry Wimberely’s house to Canyon Road Bar and Grill. This will be a 6-7 mile ride with drink stops if needed. we are planning to unload at Gentrys then convoying trucks and trailers to Canyon Road we will have a cowgirl uber to take the drivers who are also riding back to the horses. We will be joining the Troup County Saddle Club for a fun filled day of obstacle play and desensitizing beginning at 10:00 till 1:00, chili cook off and taste testing at 12 for an undetermined cost and then a trail ride after our meal – all at Pyne Park…If you would like to bring some chili, please let https://www.facebook.com/cheryl.allenhirgelt know. Can’t wait for this as it sounds like so much fun with a lot of fellowship and riding and good chili!!!!!

And we’re off….To the races that is! The Hawkinsville Harness Races will be held on Mar 30th. This is the only day of the year where you can watch live horse racing in Georgia! Gates open at 9:30 and races start at 11:00. There will be food on site as well as local vendors and activities for kids. Cost is $5 per person and children under 12 get in free. Can’t wait to see all the beautiful racehorses AND watch every race from start to finish! We should probably be at the track around 10:00 and all sit together for the exciting races! We will have an early supper around 4:00 at the Hawkinsville Steak House after watching the races most of the day. Think this will be a very enjoyable event for all ages! It could be our own “Forsyth Chapter Derby” with the big, beautiful hats and of course mint juleps or mimosas! Who’s in?
This year’s we did our first ever fundraiser trail ride on New Year’s that was open to the public. We hosted it at our farm and offered prizes and raffled off items. It was a great success and everyone has asked us to do another one and we have decided to host another trail ride fundraiser for March 30th 2024 with a rain date of April 13th 2024!
Please join us March 30th 2024. Farm opens at 930 trail ride starts at 11. we have had some great feed back from our first public trail ride and will be offering color coded trails at different lengths so you can pick what works best for you! First ride out at 11am, come back to socialize with raffle drawing at 2pm additional rides after raffle and farm closes at 7pm. We will also have ribbons for your horses red=may kick, green=young maybe unpredictable and Gold = rider is single! We will have ribbons out with signs explaining. This got away from me at the new year’s day trail ride and I even forgot to put a gold ribbon for my own horse . Alot was learned and we think our second public ride will be even better! If you came to the first ride and haven’t already please fill out our survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GR3G9WV . if you got any swag or won prizes from our first ride make sure to take pictures with it and tag and post! We hope to have the same sponsors and even more for our spring ride!

Turkey Creek Rodeo Club has Started their Open 4D barrel series. Exhibitons start at 4pm-6pm. Youth Barrels will begin at 6:30 entry fee is 35.00. Open Barrels will begin after youth runs entry fee is 45.00. 75% pay out on 1/2 splits this is a buckle series and you must attend 3 of the 5 to qualify for the buckle

Come join us on Apr 20th for a Bluebird & Bluegrass Festival at Dauset Trails We’ll ride at 9:00, then afterwards, travel over to the main part of Dauset Trails and park our trailers to the left of the main entrance. We can either bring our lunch or get us something from a food truck and all eat together in the picnic area and listen to some great blue grass music as we enjoy each other’s company. All is free except food truck. So, plan on joining us for some horse riding, good food, and some good boot stomping music for what’s sure to be a fun filled way to spend a Saturday with friends!
