Our Charlie Elliott ride got rained out for Sat (Jan 6th), so we will be riding on Sunday at Dauset Trails at 2:30. Hope all can make it. Hopefully, it won’t be too wet as trail tends to dry pretty quickly there.
Lone Star Equine Solutions will be doing a private De-Spooking clinics just for 40SC. Limited spots available.
This clinic will cover horse physiology and psychology. Class time learning the physical attributes of the horse relating to equine vision. Mounted obstacles and sensory training with fire lines, smoke, canisters, gunfire, and more.
Cost: $100 or $115 if the clinic is relocated to a covered arena due to inclement weather. 8 hour day with lunch provided. $25 non-refundable deposit due at registration.
This clinic will be at your own pace and open to all skill levels and disciplines. You can walk your horse if you prefer.

Come join us at the Ocmulgee Bluffs for a much-needed ride on Saturday, Feb 3rd at 11:00. We’ve had so many cancellations and rescheduled rides – that it’s going to be good to get back out on the trails again!
This area is a beautiful place to ride. Directions are as follows:
From Forsyth take Highway 83 north east towards Monticello. Will cross the Ocmulgee River, and a few miles down, will go past the Enon Baptist Church on your left. Will see a big Ocmulgee Bluffs sign on your right where you turn left onto Smith Mill Rd after seeing the sign. There is a black horse sign with the words Saddle Horse Club written on it on your left as you turn in. Road is not in the best of shape and narrow, so take it nice and slow. After 2-3 ? miles, you’ll see the Saddle Horse Campground on your right and on your left, will be the entrance to the Bluffs where you pay and can park.

Come on over to Mingo for a “sweetheart” weekend filled with fun, food, rides & of course love! Karaoke and Dancing on Friday night, “official” ride starting at 10:00 on Saturday morning, and Italian Supper Saturday night with dancing to a DJ. What a great way to spend a weekend with the ones you love – family, spouses, live-ins, friends, and of course your horses! Sounds like a lot of fun!!!!
No reservations, but first come – first serve.
Members: $20 gate fee & $10 hook up fee – Nonmembers: $25 gate fee & $15 hook up fee plus a paddock fee.

Come join us on Feb 19th for a Monday afternoon ride at Maynard’s Mill at 2:30. It is such a beautiful farm filled with beautiful trails. Cost is $10. Please be aware there are still two bridges out of commission, but many other trails to choose from.
Looking forward to riding on this beautiful 5.6 multi-use trail at Charlie Elliott on Thursday, Feb 22 at 10:00. Trail is a good one – where most riders can ride side by side. If 5.6 miles isn’t quite enough time in the saddle, you are more than welcome to go around again! Plan on joining us and see for yourself what a beautiful place this is to enjoy with our horses.

At the top of the hill, just before mile marker #1, take the gravel road on the right. There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign. Will have our 40 Something Cowgirls Sign out by the road to help you know where to turn. Go 1 mile and you will see a State Park sign on the left where you can park your trailer. Camping is on the left side of the road as well.
From Forsyth, Ga (off I-75), take Hwy 83 North/East. Will reach a four-way stop at the intersection of Hwy 83 & Hwy 87. Stay on Hwy 83. Will cross some railroad tracks and the Ocmulgee River. Once crossed the River, Forest Service Rd 1099 is the first road on the left at the crest of the hill right before a curve. There are two metal posts at the entrance, but no sign. This is a clinic ran by Matea Baabcock to help build your horse’s confidence and have fun. Learn the leadership skills needed to ger your horse crossing obstacles relaxed and willingly. You will find out how you as the rider can cultivate a strong focus and help de-spook your horse on all kinds of obstacles.
$500/rider for the weekend or $250/rider per day.
Early bird discount: Pay before February 1, 2024 and come for $400/rider for the weekend (non-refundable and non-transferable.)
Come on out! Arena is covered and plenty of parking available.

Time to learn how to work some cows with Buck Brannanman! Let’s show him what TEXAS COWGIRLS are made of! Bring your trusty mount and work those cows!
Cost is $750 per rider with $350 deposit.
- Horsemanship #1 will be held March 15, 2024 9am – Noon (There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot)
- Horsemanship #2 will be held March 15, 2024 1:30pm – 4:30pm
- Vaquero Riding will be held March 16, 2024 9am – Noon (There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot)
- Ranch Work will be held March 16, 2024 1:30pm – 4:30pm
- Skills test will be held March 17, 2024 9am – noon (There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot)
- Cattle work will be held March 17, 2024 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Horsemanship #1 is for the green horse and/or rider that is comfortable in a snaffle bit and needs continued work. There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot.
Horsemanship #2 is for the horse and rider team that is learning to use the hackamore and beyond. This time slot involves CATTLE and ranch roping.
In vaquero riding we will learn basic movements of the vaquero riding that is appropriate for horses from first level snaffle to experienced bridle horses. Hackamore trained horses are welome! There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot.
Ranch work clinic will be learning how to work the cows efficiently and effectively. This time slot involves CATTLE.
Come out and show off your teamwork skills that you learned this weekend with your trusty steed! There will be NO CATTLE at this time slot.

This year’s we did our first ever fundraiser trail ride on New Year’s that was open to the public. We hosted it at our farm and offered prizes and raffled off items. It was a great success and everyone has asked us to do another one and we have decided to host another trail ride fundraiser for March 30th 2024 with a rain date of April 13th 2024!
Please join us March 30th 2024. Farm opens at 930 trail ride starts at 11. we have had some great feed back from our first public trail ride and will be offering color coded trails at different lengths so you can pick what works best for you! First ride out at 11am, come back to socialize with raffle drawing at 2pm additional rides after raffle and farm closes at 7pm. We will also have ribbons for your horses red=may kick, green=young maybe unpredictable and Gold = rider is single! We will have ribbons out with signs explaining. This got away from me at the new year’s day trail ride and I even forgot to put a gold ribbon for my own horse . Alot was learned and we think our second public ride will be even better! Come join us on Apr 20th for a Bluebird & Bluegrass Festival at Dauset Trails We’ll ride at 9:00, then afterwards, travel over to the main part of Dauset Trails and park our trailers to the left of the main entrance. We can either bring our lunch or get us something from a food truck and all eat together in the picnic area and listen to some great blue grass music as we enjoy each other’s company. All is free except food truck. So, plan on joining us for some horse riding, good food, and some good boot stomping music for what’s sure to be a fun filled way to spend a Saturday with friends!

Come out and ride with us to Boozy Slush located in Lavon. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. If we all want a snack, we can ride over to Sonic that is a short distance down the road.
We will meet at either Mallard Park that is located off HWY 78 near HWY 6 or the picnic area that is next door to Mallard Park. If you do park at the picnic area, please carpool or bring a small trailer.
For those of you going, it is a 10mile round trip ride.

☆Dinner with Carson: Our Saturday night Dinner will be open to ALL Pre-paid PARTICIPANTS AND AUDITORS. Participants & their companion $20 each, Auditors $25 each. Fees must be received by TBD date.
Lodging-
◇Bunkhouse lodging is available on site but space is very limited. Four bunks per room. Bring your own linens. $20/per person- per night.
◇Dry Camping – generators are welcome. $25/night
