Join our Marvelous Mavericks riding the trails around the lake at Abilene State Park.
Check in at the office to show proof of negative coggins, and pay the $5/person park entrance fee.
Make a U-turn around the office and go back out to the highway. Go Left for 1 mile. Lake entrance is on the right. We park near the swimming area or in the first boat ramp parking lot.
The trail is a 2 hour ride. Bathrooms are close to parking. Yes, there are areas where you can water your horse.

Join us at Abilene State Park for our monthly trail ride. Be sure to check in, show coggins, and pay your fee to the park station before heading to the lake. Lake entrance is left 1 mile up the highway on the right side. We park near the swimming/picnic area. See y’all there!

ride last about an hour and a half and is rated easy with some rocks and sand

AM will cover basic dressage/flatwork foundation needed for WE and any discipline you ride. PM will cover select obstacles used in WE and proper way to execute them and how to link them together as when riding a course.

Limited to 12 participants in ranch horse, 12 in roping.
Abilene State Park is hosting a guided trail ride. Please consider this is not a free range 40 Something Cowgirls guided ride. Please know they plan to ride out at 9:00am so come early. Can’t wait to see y’all there!

Join us for a guided trail ride around Lake Abilene as part of Abilene State Park’s 90th anniversary celebration!
This will be a 2-hour ride. You will need to bring your own horse and show your Coggins. We’ll meet and unload at the swimming area parking lot.
Park entrance is free for this event!
Join us for 2 full days of instruction on your own horse. Ages 8 and up. Please call 940/549-0737 or 940/550-5042 for more information.
Michelle Fanning will teach ranch riding and reining patterns and how to better understand each maneuver found in these patterns.

Be ready to ride out at 10:00 am. Boots or shoes highly recommended for all horses. Some logging gravel on the trail.
Trail is mostly flat and wide. Should be about 4 miles roundtrip.

now that the weather has cooled off a bit , it’s time to hit the trails again
