Welcome to the Sisterhood Series Challenge! June's theme: Ride Free

This year-long experience was created for one simple reason: none of us were meant to do life alone.

At 40 Something Cowgirls, sisterhood is the heartbeat of who we are. It’s showing up, lifting each other up, caring for ourselves and our communities, and choosing connection over isolation.

Each month, you’ll be invited into a new, optional challenge focused on encouragement, reflection, service, and growth. No pressure. No perfection. Loud or quiet, public or private — it all counts.

June Sisterhood Series Challenge – Ride Free

Summer is here, and this month's challenge is all about reconnecting with the reason we started this journey in the first place.

    Not the ribbons.
    Not the scores.
    Not the endless to-do lists.

Just you, your horse, and the freedom that comes from being together.

This month, we invite you to Ride Free.

Take time to ride outside, explore a new trail, enjoy a quiet sunset ride, or simply spend a few extra moments appreciating the partnership you share with your horse.

    Ask yourself:

✨ Where do you feel most free?
✨ What part of riding brings you the most joy?
✨ How has your horse helped you find freedom, confidence, or peace?

    Photo Prompt of the Month:
"Where do you feel most free?"

Share a photo and tell us about the ride, place, or moment that helped you reconnect with the freedom horses bring to your life.

    To participate:

1️⃣ Register for the June Sisterhood Series Challenge in the Wild Apricot app

2️⃣ Ride Free—however that looks for you

3️⃣ Share your photo and story in the 40 Something Cowgirls Facebook Group

Include your location or tag your chapter when you post.

Your story may inspire another Cowgirl to saddle up, take a deep breath, and remember why she rides.

    This month's affirmation:

    "I choose freedom.
    I choose joy.
I make time for what fills my soul."

We can't wait to see where your adventures take you.

Photos shared for the challenge may be featured on 40SC social media as we celebrate the journey together.

Hickman Springs is a reasonably close ride/haul -  My advice is if you are interested in this summer ride, book it now, as space is really limited.

In speaking with Marilyn here's what she shared:

"We have 8 hook ups and a 3 br/2bath house and 15 stalls. We back up to great trails in Sam Houston national forest - they are not marked so will need to use gps. Hookups are $25./stalls $5./house $200./night. We do not have room for day riders.

Sleeping Capacity for the house is 6 this also means sharing sleep space and cost! The house sleeps 6 - one king bed, one queen bed and two twin beds.

    Hook-Ups consist of water and power only. (2) 50amps (6) 30amps

Please call / text Marilyn DIRECTLY TO SECURE YOUR SPOT let her know you're with 40 Something Cowgirls - Angleton Chapter 832.527.7064  Let her know if you need a cabin spot or RV spot and if you need a 30 or 50.  She is keeping the list not me.  :)

PAYMENT:  CASH, VENMO, ZELLE OR CHECK.  If Check, made out to Gary Ulmer

TRAIL RATING: Scale 1-5 (5 being advanced) *from what I have been told and researched, this one should be a 3-4ish, mainly flat, shaded with SOME creek crossings, logs that will need to be stepped over, mixed terrain.  Mostly sandy footing.

    WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

For the first time since our chapter forming,  Invite one of your closest girlfriends to stay with you so she can check us out. Birds of a feather should flock together right? (guest should NOT have their own rv spot in an effort to make sure members have a spot)

Meals: Make your own arrangements for meals, but plan to DINE TOGETHER for DINNER 7PM. Dining will take place around the 'fire-ring"  If you wish to bring something to share, or coordinate that's wonderful, but not required.  Bring your own fave refreshments.   TOGETHER DINE TIME 7PM.

    BRING FOR YOUR HORSE:

Water bucket, manure bucket & fork, (these items are not provided at camp), Electrolytes if you feel your horse may benefit from them this time of year.

SO SADDLE UP BUTTERCUPS, &  LET'S GO ON A SUMMER ADVENTURE.
