  Saddle up Cowgirls! Join your fellow Cowgirls for a scenic ride at the Broad River Greenway!! The 1,500 acre natural area offers miles of trails perfect for horseback riding!

  Please note: the Greenway trails are closed to horses for 72 hours after rain. Please call 704-434-0040 to determine closures.

  For parking, please follow the directions from their website: “For your convenience the Greenway created an “Equestrian Parking” area on College Farm Road. Look for the brown signs as seen above on Highway 150 directing you to the horse access. Come past our gate and continue all the way to the large circular turn around. The idea is to go all the way through the turn around and proceed like you are exiting the way you came in. Park along the side of the road keeping the travel lane clear for incoming traffic. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PARK IN THE TURN AROUND AREA. This makes is nearly impossible for anyone else to get past you making a frustrating day for all involved.” If you have any questions or concerns, call Ranger Jolly at 704-434-0040.   Join us for The Cleveland County Hearts and Hooves volunteer orientation and equine safety training. Learn about the program, volunteer positions and how to safely interact with horses. No experience necessary, all training will be provided.   Cleveland County Hearts and Hooves is a non-profit organization that provides Equine Assisted Learning to children with special needs in Cleveland County.  They need volunteers as Horse Leaders and Handlers, Side Walkers, and Arena Helpers.  The program runs through the school year on Tuesday and Thursdays (9:30 to 1:30).  The program utilizes privately owned horses that are assessed as suitable for therapy work.  Our chapter has several members who donate their time and equines to this organization, and we have also supported them with monetary donations.

  Join us at The Kentucky Horse Park and attend the National Mounted Police Colloquium and Civilian Sensory Clinics!   The Colloquium (Tuesday through Friday) is mainly for mounted police officers and members of civilian mounted search & rescue teams and will feature clinics and the competitions. National and international instructors are brought in to instruct both police and civilians in various types of training to include: equitation, jumping, crowd control, and sensory techniques.  Training is always conducted in a controlled environment geared towards improving the confidence of both the horse and rider.  

  The Civilian Sensory Clinics are individual clinics on Saturday and Sunday and are feature national and international instructors who provide obstacle, sensory and equitation training for horse and rider.

  There are campsites with electric and horse stalls available, as well as nearby hotels.

  · Conditioning a horse to accept treatment

  · Dealing with lacerations, punctures, colic, choke, casting, shock hoof issues

  · Spinal health

  · Injury prevention and much more!

  · Certificate of completion and a comprehensive first aid manual provided!

  Class begins at 9:00 AM so please arrive at 8:45 and plan until 5:00 PM.

  Please bring a chair, notebook, pen and a packed lunch—please have lunch on site. Snacks and water are provided. The class is for ages 15 years and older. The class fee is $169/person.

  Cowgirls, Let's get together to celebrate our fellowship and our wonderful year!  Dress up in your favorite Western Wear: boots, hats and bling!  We are meeting at Logan's in Gastonia, where we will have the upstairs available for our socializing.  Food and Drinks are on you, but we may have some fun games and even prizes.  Since room is limited, this will be a MEMBERS ONLY event.
