Washington's Founding Chapter

Welcome to the 40 Something Cowgirls – Columbia Basin, WA Chapter, where the wide-open skies meet the spirit of adventure! We’re a fearless and fun-loving group of women, 20, 30, 40 and beyond, who know that life is meant to be lived with passion, purpose, and a little bit of cowboy grit. In the heart of the Columbia Basin, we embrace the freedom of the open range and the strength that comes with age and experience.

Whether we’re riding through the rolling hills or gathering to share a laugh, we’re all about building lasting friendships, empowering one another, and celebrating the cowgirl spirit in every moment. From dusting off our boots to taking on new challenges, we make every day an adventure worth remembering. So saddle up, put on your favorite hat, and join us as we create memories, break boundaries, and live life as boldly as the open plains! The trail’s calling—let’s ride!

Welcome to the Sisterhood Series Challenge! February's theme: Love Well--Cowgirl Style.

This year-long experience was created for one simple reason: none of us were meant to do life alone.

At 40 Something Cowgirls, sisterhood is the heartbeat of who we are. It’s showing up, lifting each other up, caring for ourselves and our communities, and choosing connection over isolation.

Each month, you’ll be invited into a new, optional challenge focused on encouragement, reflection, service, and growth. No pressure. No perfection. Loud or quiet, public or private — it all counts.

What to expect throughout the year:
    • Monthly challenges
    • Opportunities to log experiences and share stories
    • Monthly Zoom gatherings
    • Fun surprises and small rewards along the way
    • End-of-year recognition for those who walk the full journey

    This isn’t about doing more.
    It’s about doing life together.

Learn more and join the Sisterhood Series here.

Wherever you are right now, you belong here.
    Let’s rise together, cowgirls.

    What will I see?

During your visit you will have a chance to explore the interactive and static exhibits in the LIGO Exploration Center (LExC), including the historic Weber Bar (one of the earliest devices designed to detect gravitational waves) and a full-scale engineering model of one of initial LIGO's suspension tables, showcasing not only the evolution of LIGO, but gravitational-wave detection as a whole. You will also visit the one point on the site where you can see both of the interferometer's 4km-long arms reaching into the Eastern Washington shrub-steppe. A highlight for many guests is the interferometer's control room, where you will learn even more about LIGO directly from the people who maintain and operate the world's most sensitive measuring device. Questions enthusiastically welcome!
