Welcome to the Sisterhood Series Challenge! April's theme: Ride Into Growth

This year-long experience was created for one simple reason: none of us were meant to do life alone.

At 40 Something Cowgirls, sisterhood is the heartbeat of who we are. It’s showing up, lifting each other up, caring for ourselves and our communities, and choosing connection over isolation.

Each month, you’ll be invited into a new, optional challenge focused on encouragement, reflection, service, and growth. No pressure. No perfection. Loud or quiet, public or private — it all counts.

Beginning in April, sharing your journey will be even easier! All members will be emailed April's SSC information sheet with an update on how to post to earn your points.

The Cowgirl is inviting members of the Fort Worth community to take part in “Cowgirl Colors, A Community Canvas,” art project celebrating the cowgirl and the exciting expansion of the Museum.

“Cowgirl Colors, A Community Canvas” focuses on bringing the community together through art by inviting participants to paint 8 x 8-inch wooden panels inspired by the theme of cowgirls and the western lifestyle. The completed panels will become part of a vibrant public art installation spelling the word “COWGIRL” across a custom-installed fence at Alice Walton Park, located just south of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame and across the street from Dickies Arena.

Supported by Linbeck Construction, this colorful installation will reflect the creativity, stories, and shared pride of the Fort Worth community while honoring the enduring legacy of cowgirls who have shaped the West.

Participation in the art project is free and open to the public. Community members of all ages and artistic skill levels are encouraged to take part. Wooden panels can be obtained at the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame while supplies last, giving participants the opportunity to contribute their own artistic interpretation of the cowgirl spirit.

Once completed, the panels will be assembled into the larger temporary display at Alice Walton Park, creating a unique artwork celebrating the museum’s growth and the vibrant culture of the West.

The project is part of the celebration surrounding the expansion of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame, reinforcing the museum’s mission to honor and share the stories of women of the West.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Participation is FREE and painting supplies (brushes, acrylic paint, stencils and wood panels) will be provided at no additional charge if attending a “painting event.”

Each panel must connect in some way to cowgirls or cowgirl life, which may include (but is not limited to):

Women riders and athletes
Ranching and working cowgirls
Rodeo, horses, and western traditions
Strength, resilience, independence, and community
Historical or contemporary interpretations of cowgirl life

Both realistic and abstract designs are welcome, as long as the connection to the theme is clear. In addition, artwork must be welcoming and family friendly for all ages; The Cowgirl reserves the right to exclude any panel that is deemed inappropriate. Limit 1 panel per person, while supplies last.

Panels are available for pickup at the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame during regular business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
Participants who take a panel for painting are required to provide their own supplies.
Participants may also attend a “painting event.” Check the events calendar or the listing below.
Panels intended for display must be returned no later than July 1, 2026.
Participants will be able to collect their panel at the close of the exhibition starting November 10, 2026. Panels not picked up by December 30 will become the property of The Cowgirl.

Join us as we ride the trails at Benbrook Lake. Dutch Branch is an easy trail, providing lots of shade with lake views. There are some moderate hills, but nothing too advanced. This is a trail for everyone to ride! We ride to the level of the most inexperienced rider.

Benbrook TX- Attending HCSP Clinic (May 16, 2026)

This clinic is a fundraiser for the Hunt County Sheriffs Posse. There will be four instructors and all the HCSP members helping you through the obstacles. Longhorn is a covered arena with plenty of gravel parking, restrooms, etc. Lunch is NOT provided, so bring a sack lunch, or plan to visit the nearby fast food places.
The clinic is a come and go, come and stay for the day, relaxed clinic. Go at your own pace from the ground or in the saddle. All your favorite obstacles, including fire lines, flags, gunfire, drags and more.
Cost is $75 a rider with a non refundable $35 deposit. Deposit must be paid prior to the clinic by CashApp or Venmo. Call or text Lauren at 214-862-0638 to register.

Join us for a true small town parade! Hubbard is a darling town, and this parade will lift your patriotic spirit! It is not a long parade, and they do try to keep all the horses together. We will wear modified parade attire:

White shirts

Straw hats

Black saddle blanket

Decorate with lots of red, white and blue!

If you don't want to ride your horse, we will most likely have a truck bed you can ride in, and participate anyway!

Plan for lunch after in one of the local restaurants.

Join us on our Fall Retreat at Six RS Ranch! This historic ranch has miles of trails, rolling hills and beautiful East Texas views. There are LQ hook-ups and a ranch house that sleeps 12-14. We fill up early, so let me know! There are stalls in the barn, and pens for your horses. No dogs please.

The ride will go from BIlly Bob's to Sundance Square and back to the stockyards, where we will enjoy champagne and snacks back at the trailers. A great way to ring in the Year of the Horse!

We love the stock show and Rodeo, we practically live there! If you go, take a selfie and we will add you to the roster. Specifically, we will do the following events:

Grand Entry 1/Go Pink night -1-26 be at trailer parking by 5:30 traditional parade attire

Grand Entry 1/TCU Night 1-289 purple shirts, black 40SC vest

Grand Entry 1/Rutledge 1-30 at 11 am performance arrive by 9:00 with long sleeve white shirt, black vest.

Grand Entry 1/Military Appreciation night- 2-1 black vest and white shirt- we will provide red bandannas

black saddle blankets all days

***GE walkover with police escort is 1 hour prior to performance

*** all performances need pink wraps on front legs and pink wild rag unless otherwise stated.

All long sleeve shirts must be button ups. Arena attire!

You MUST have a release on file with FWSSR do ride the GE.

Benbrook TX- FWSSR Parade (January 16, 2027)

Join all the local 40SC chapters for the iconic FWSSR Parade! Last year we had over 100 riders in our group. You won't want to miss this!

There are some hoops to jump through, so let's go over the checklist:

1.Per the email from the parade office dated 11/7, a health certificate is not needed, but a coggins is required. If you are printing your coggins from home, make sure that your accension number prints. No current coggins means you will not be allowed in the parade. No exceptions.

2. All Parade participants MUST have a liability release on file with FWSSR. NO EXCEPTIONS! Liability releases are done online and are due no later than November 30, 2025. Link is here

After completing your release, sign up for the event so that we may check against the list in the FWSSR office. Your group is "40 Something Cowgirls". No chapter affiliation. FWSSR sees us as one unit.

3. 40SC Parade Attire required. This is full parade gear (ORDER NOW IF YOU ARE MISSING ANYTHING)!:

Pink 40SC l/s button down shirt (White l/s shirt is acceptable)

Black 40SC Jacket (light weight or heavy weight). NO VESTS

Pink 40SC Wild Rag

Blue Jeans (not black)

Black Cowboy Hat or helmet

Black 40SC saddle blanket (solid black accepted, no patterns)

Pink Polo Wraps (front legs only). Must be the 40SC pink and must be polo wraps not splint boots

HQ supplies pink feathers and pink gloves. (The gloves are large and will fit over your warm gloves or riding gloves)

4. ARRIVE EARLY! The parking fills up and it is difficult to find people. Make sure you stay a member of any 40SC FWSSR Facebook groups for updates.
