This is a beginner clinic for the public and fundraiser for Heroes on Horseback sponsored by 40 Something Cowgirls Bluffton. All are welcome who would like to learn the steps to understanding driving your horse. From the size of the horse, to harness selection, to ground driving, dragging then which cart is best. This is an introductory clinic with Mary Ann Swim.
Mary Ann Swim has had a lifelong love affair with horses. In the early 90’s she first saw trainer John Lyons and his stallion Zip and she traded writing articles about him in Horse Illustrated magazine in exchange for attending many of his clinics around the country. This opened up seeing and writing about many other clinicians with Ray Hunt being one of her favorites. Owning a Fell pony and a Friesian got her into competitive ridden dressage and competitive driving where she showed in combined driving around the country. She was lucky enough to work and travel with Mike McLennan who was one of three 4-in-hand drivers on the United States Equestrian Team. She worked with Mike regularly and traveled to FEI level shows and was lucky enough to participate in many of the training sessions given by top European and American trainers and drivers. Retired to SC 2 years ago, she is content with trail riding her rescue Paso Fino but is happy to help anyone who wants to drive.
