FLIGHT OF THE MONARCHS – SOUTH SIDE

OCTOBER 15 – 17, 2021   *  SAN ANGELO STATE PARK

Equestrian campsites available both electric/water and primitive.  Yes, for this year we will be camping and riding the SOUTH SIDE of the park.  We received special permission to camp on this side.  Yes, we are not at the equestrian site with horse pens but you’ll be able to experience the beautiful rugged hills and mesas this side of the park has to offer.  Electric sites will be at the Chaparral Pavilion for $15 a night. NO PENS so you either need to tie to your trailer or bring your own. There are only 14 electric sites. All are back-in too.  There are two primitive sites across from the pavilion with enough room for two or three trailers at one site depending on the trailer size.  Got a buddy, you can camp as a group. Bath house with showers are close by.  Additionally, in Isabel Harte campground there are several primitive sites.  These have fire rings and most have a little shade but they are short.  No pens.  No big trailers like my 34 ft. monster would fit.  There are restrooms at Isabel Harte.  These sites can be reserved on line.   $10 per night.  This campground is a good walk to the Chaparral Pavilion. Trail rider’s registration $25 for the whole weekend.  Saturday dinner included. We’ll furnish the brisket, tea and paper goods. Please bring a side dish to share. Campsites not included.

You are also welcome to camp at the north side equestrian campground and trailer over before the ride if you wish.  It’s a good 15 minute drive. Make your own reservations for the Northside on line.  Morning ride at 9:00 returning at noon.  Lunch on your own.  Later afternoon ride.  Sunday morning ride.

Saturday evening will be a silent auction with all proceeds going to the Friends of San Angelo State Park.  New items or gently used tack in good condition is always appreciated!

This side of the Park is rocky so shoes or boots for your equine friends are recommended.  Also, Coggins is required and will be checked at the gate house when you enter.

To make campsite reservations at Chaparral Pavilion you must call Judy at (325)656-4323 or email hight@wcc.net For more info call Linda Ashton (325)656-4322.
