Gordon County Saddle Club is once again hosting a St Jude’s Ride for Children. Event will run from 9:00 – 3:30. More details to come….Save the date! September 28th!
The YWCA Victims Advocacy Center is hosting their 1st Annual Heroes and Heels event in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month. The event will take place on September 28th at Bunning Hall Freight Station from 6pm-10pm and will feature local heroes.

Join us to watch the thrills of a Professional Rodeo presented World Champions Rodeo Alliance at Tryon International Center. Events featured will include Bronc and Bull Riding, Steer Wrestling and Roping as well as Barrel Racing. Event starts at 7:30 and tickets (according to their website) will be going on sale soon. Join us at Leatherman Lane to celebrate horses and help raise money to battle Breast Cancer. Annual event that features various vendors, food, live music and of course horses. There is a planned trail ride!!!!One of our charities we support Cleveland County Hearts and Hooves, will be there to highlight there important work with our awesome participants from North Shelby School, Shelby, NC. We have our Boot there for Donations. Please bring cash so you can help another great cause! More information coming once we get details figured out. However, plan to come in costume, bring a Halloween themed dish to share, and bring your horse for a ride if you want.
We are going to come up with either a scavenger hunt or a haunted trail ride. Either way we can get a ride in as well if you want.
Husbands, boyfriends, guest, significant other is welcome to come along.

Thundering Hills Ranch & Rescue presents their first annual Spook Fest. Dress up your equine partner and participate in our costume contest. Take a peaceful ride down the trails or thru the hay fields. Then try out our spooky obstacle course. We will have hayrides and games for the kiddos and kid at heart. Cozy up by the bonfire with a cup of hot cocoa or coffee with all the fixins purchased from our cocoa/coffee bar or purchase a make your own s’more at our smores bar with several options to make the ultimate smore. Browse our silent auction items, purchase some homemade goodies, take part in some awesome raffles or just come to see all the pretty horses. All proceeds go to Thundering Hills Ranch & Rescue. No rental horses will be available. We do welcome all furry friends/family members, but they must remain on a leash and be on their best behavior. Last I heard, Brandi was looking for volunteers and items for the Silent Auction. If anybody has anything to donate or goodies to bring, or a specific area you wanted to volunteer at, maybe we could volunteer as a chapter – serving hot cocoa, helping with games, etc. Let’s discuss it at our roundup meeting on Aug 27th and then notify Brandi once we come up with a group plan or individually! Cowhand challenge!(sorting, penning, etc). All proceeds go to Rutledge Cancer Foundation! We will have a chuck wagon lunch available for purchase . This event is a benefit. Cowgirls only will have buckles to the winning team. The open division will have a payout. 4 man teams. Pre registration is encouraged and there will be a $50. We love the stock show and Rodeo, we practically live there! If you go, take a selfie and we will add you to the roster. Specifically, we will do the following events:
Grand Entry 1/Go Pink night -be at trailer parking by 5:30 traditional parade attire
Grand Entry 1/TCU Night purple shirts, black 40SC vest
Grand Entry 1/Rutledge at 11 am performance arrive by 9:00 with long sleeve white shirt, black vest.
Grand Entry 1/Military Appreciation night- black vest and white shirt- we will provide red bandannas
black saddle blankets all days
***GE walkover with police escort is 1 hour prior to performance
*** all performances need pink wraps on front legs and pink wild rag unless otherwise stated.
All long sleeve shirts must be button ups. Arena attire!

you must have a physical copy of both your coggins and a health certificate to get your horse on the FWSSR grounds. No exceptions. They will not accept a coggins from your phone.

We will be getting together at the Cedar Hollow Winery to celebrate Galentine’s Day!!
What is Galentine’s Day you might ask? Well, it’s a day for women to celebrate their friendships with their lady friends and our club has developed some wonderful lifetime friendships through our horses. Dress up or come in your boots and jeans, it doesn’t matter, let’s go celebrate our friendship!!
