And we’re off….To the races that is! The Hawkinsville Harness Races are held every year the first Saturday of April and for 2023 – that falls on April 1st. There is a festival held in conjunction with the races. Visitors can walk around and tour the racetrack area taking a look at the beautiful horses in their stalls, etc. or simply stay glued to their seats to watch every aspect of the races from start to finish! We should probably be at the track around 10:00 and all sit together for the exciting races! Let’s plan on taking a picnic lunch and eating at the track around 12:00. We will have an early supper around 4:00 at the Hawkinsville Steak House after watching the races most of the day. Think this will be a very enjoyable event for all ages! It could be our own “Georgia Derby” with the big, beautiful hats and of course mint juleps or mimosas! Who’s in?
Get ready to chase some cows in Midland! Time and entry will be determined, but save the date. The venue will be the Broken Horn in Midland.

Meet up at Marillyn’s house at noon and then we ride at 1pm. We go on a trail ride to find hidden ribbons that you turn in for an Easter basket. Some ribbons may get you an additional prize or an “upgraded” Easter basket!!! Marillyn will have some snacks and beverages (of course, there will be jello shots and peeps shots!!!!!) It is $25 per participant to help cover some of the cost of the Easter basket items. (You get a basket with more than $25 in value.) This is just a fun ride and day, not an extensive trail ride. You basically ride until you find a ribbon or as long as you want. We then go to my neighbor’s house and he feeds us. I will have a “new” place to ride this year. Woohoo! Please RSVP to Marillyn by March 30th so she can have enough baskets prepared. Feel free to bring prospective members, family, or friends! “Rain date” make-up ride will be April 20th.
