Marysville, WA – Attend Ricky Quinn Clinic @ Cornerstone Ranch
Aug 27 – Aug 29 all-day
Let’s go as a group to the Ricky Quinn clinic at Cornerstone. Ride or Audit.
Ricky is very gifted in his ability to address the needs of the individual while maintaining a group dynamic. His clinics go well beyond just horsemanship…but all the factors that play a role in keeping our horses healthy and sound physically as well as emotionally.
HORSEMANSHIP 1
9:00am until noon each day. $450 per person for the three sessions. This class is about developing a solid understanding of compulsory horsemanship principles for building and maintaining a sound, healthy and athletic horse. Ricky is diligent in addressing individual riders needs and any issues they may encounter.
HORSEMANSHIP 2
1:30pm until 4:30pm each day. $450 per person for the three sessions. This class is about giving you the knowledge so that you can build your problem solving skills with your horse. If something surfaces, you can help the horse through it by understanding how the horse needs to move mechanically so he’s balanced…and understanding the preferred way the horse wants to feel inside so he’s comfortable. Then it’s up to you to decide how good you want it to be.
Auditors welcome! $30 per day to Cornerstone Ranch directly.

In this clinic Steve will help you attain these goals and become the natural leader that your horse needs you to be.

Location: Franklin County Saddle Club, 2801 N Rd 60 Pasco WA 99301

Clinic Host: Cathy Ricard

Phone: 509-521-0886

Email: ricardcat@msn.com

Co-Host Information:

Steve is one of the most sought-after instructors in the horse industry. Traveling all over the US and Canada, he has helped thousands of horses and riders develop more willing partnerships.  His methods and teaching style are unique and produce instant results.  Whether to overcome fears, or gain more control, participants will leave the clinic empowered and more excited about reaching their horsemanship goals.

This clinic is designed to be an overall learning experience that builds on several aspects of communication, confidence, respect, trust, impulsion, and performance. The clinic is open to people of all skill levels and disciplines, beginner to advanced are welcome.  We also welcome horses of all ages and breeds.

Some of the things you will learn through the clinic are:

  • Confidence to overcome fears.
  • Tools to keep your horse calm, curious, and respectful.
  • How to develop safe, content, and willing horses.
  • Feel and timing to increase your horse’s “try”.
  • Common mistakes of both the horse and rider.
  • How to think from a horse’s point of view.
  • What to expect from your horse and what to do when your horse does the unexpected.
  • How to accomplish incredible things with your horse.
  • Key exercises to unlock your horse’s potential.
  • Exercises to correct your horse’s bad habits.
  • How to gain overall control of your horse’s five body parts and get your horse supple and responsive.
  • How to make the wrong thing difficult and the right thing easy, a key lesson for solving problems.
  • How to get the most out of each training session with their horse at the clinic and at home!

Essentially, we will be teaching you the building blocks for success!

This clinic will be split into two classes so that everyone can have extensive one-on-one time with Steve. Participants from both Levels can watch the opposite Level at no cost.

The Level 1 Class will be primarily focused towards teaching principles of safety, communication, and confidence building for both horse and rider.  This is a great class for anyone who is new or still needing foundation exercises, lacking confidence, possibly looking to not canter too much (or wanting to try cantering more), having any major issues with their horse (bucking, rearing, etc.), or themselves.  Green horses (less than 6 months of riding) should be in this class.  We recommend this class if you have not previously done a clinic with Steve.  It will run from 9:00am – 1:30pm.

The Level 2 Class will be primarily focused towards teaching more intermediate to advanced principles.  In this class we will assume that you have basic understanding of natural horsemanship groundwork concepts and techniques and are willing to have a ‘go for it’ attitude.  This class will involve advancing your groundwork techniques, body control, and riding maneuvers.  If your horse has any behavioral issues (bucking, rearing, striking, etc.), this class is not for you.  It will run from 2:00pm – 7:00pm.

This clinic builds on concepts that take several days to achieve. For best results the clinic should be attended in its entirety; however, a minimum participation of 2 days is required.  If your horse is not rideable or is too you, you can participate only within the groundwork portion.

This Clinic will teach you on a higher level of thinking.

Civilian Clinic will teach you confidence and a new level of how your horse reacts to new challenges.
How your horse sees thru his vision and with the correct actions and correct cues can teach you and the horse to accomplish obstacles or new challenges.
You and horse will achieve a higher level of trust and respect!
You will also gain confidence in your horse’s ability to accomplish any task you set in front of him/her.
Training a horse to be responsive and spook proof depends on a working knowledge of some of the methods used in the training of Mounted Police and Mounted Patrol horses.
